Domestic Violence and Immigration

Domestic violence is a worldwide epidemic that requires our attention. In the United States, this issue has often been overlooked due to other societal issues taking precedent, like the war on terror or gun control. However, anyone can be a candidate and be affected by domestic violence, including immigrants. That is why the Law Offices of Isabel Castillo, P.A. is active in helping victims achieve legal, social and financial stability in the United States through our pro bono efforts. As a battered spouse, child or parent of a U.S. Citizen or in some cases Resident, an immigrant may file an immigrant visa petition under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Sadly, most immigrants who are eligible for VAWA relief do not have the knowledge or money to navigate the journey toward receiving their immigrant visa. For these reasons, our firm has a solid objective in doing what it can to help these types of vulnerable victims. We do this through our pro bono work and through participating in community events where our objective is shared by others. A great organization that has received much recognition for their work in the area of domestic violence is Sahara of South Florida. We encourage you to visit their website and see how you too can make a difference in helping domestic violence victims. www.saharafl.org
